As part of Cork Jazz Weekend 2015, Coughlan's Live will host a vocal workshop with Gemma Sugrue, professional singer, vocal coach and director of Voiceworks Studio. This workshop is free of charge and open to singers of all ages, levels and styles.
Gemma wants to introduce singers to her approach to vocal technique and will endevour to demonstrate how we all under-estimate the power of our voice!
For the first half of the workshop Gemma will work with the group, taking them through a vocal warm up they can use daily. She will then work through her approach to contemporary vocal technique and hopes to deepen everyone's understanding of how their voice works and how they can get the most out of it and take care of it.
To conclude, she will invite volunteers to sing solo as part of an informal masterclass and this will be a great way of putting everything we've learnt in the first half of the workshop, into to practice!
