The Bonk & Patrick Freeman - Double Headliner show THE BONK With the familiarity of that which came before and the uncertainty of that which has not yet been, the Bonk’s first cut, ‘Ancestor’, is garage born and groove laden. Driven by the screaming keys and dusty vocal of frontman Phil Christie, ‘Ancestor’ creeps its way into the bones with blistering guitars and a pounding rhythm section reminiscent of Albert King jamming with 13th Floor Elevators on a foggy mountain peak in a parallel universe. Two further tracks are set for release in the coming months when the band will take their full live repertoire on the road for the first time with shows at home along with select performances further afield. Borrowing a term used to describe a state of mental and physical collapse, The Bonk often uses layered competing rhythms in a way that tends towards estrangement from the familiar.
