Cork’s 96FM presenter Michael Carr will play host to Lorraine Nash, Niamh Regan, Malojian and Paddy Dennehy. 21-year old multi-instrumentalist, Lorraine Nash, is one of the newest talents in Ireland releasing new music in 2020. Her debut single ‘Wildflower’ is taken from an EP due for release in April and sets an enigmatic tone for what is to come. Lorraine’s vocal emanates from soulful place, somewhere between Tracy Chapman and Gillian Welch, and is perfectly suited to a musical palate that evokes Americana and folk tones. Described as a “rare gem” by the iconic Rolling Stone Magazine, Paddy Dennehy is a Cork-based musician whose blues-tinged songwriting has earned him renown across Ireland. His debut album Little Light was released in June of this year and it had been a long time coming. He began performing in 2013, his first Dublin gig being on The Late Late Show and has since performed with the likes of Glen Hansard, Imelda May, Lisa Hannigan and Mick Flannery, honing his craft along the way. His album “Little Light” draws from a much deeper well than his first attempts. Song by song he tackles religion, parenthood, love, and loneliness through a mixture of character driven stories and personal recollections. Over the past seven years these songs have been taken apart and put back together again, leaner and more concise. Over the last few years, Malojian has released four stunning solo albums, along the way collaborating with some musical legends, including Steve Albini, who produced for Nirvana and The Pixies. His latest album features Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M., Atoms for Peace, Roger Waters), Gerry Love (Teenage Fanclub), Jon Thorne (Yorkston/Thorne/Khan, Lamb) and more. However, it is Malojian’s own voice and songs that sets him apart from the crowd. His fifth album ‘HUMM’, which is a collaboration with Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, was released in September 2020. Galway artist Niamh Regan has long been lauded as one of Ireland’s most promising folk talents. At just 17, this precocious folksinger won a Paul Brady scholarship to study flute and guitar at the University of Limerick. Here she formed the trad/ bluegrass band Juhn Echo and drew plaudits from The Irish Times who highlighted her “stunning vocals”. Niamh released her debut solo EP To in 2017 follow up single What To Do in 2018 earning gushing praise Extensive airplay from RTE Radio 1 and Folk Radio UK soon followed along with high profile slots at Electric Picnic, Body & Soul and Knockanstockan. Now, with the release of debut album 'Hemet', Niamh Regan is about to carve out her own niche in the world of contemporary folk music and fulfil the potential she showed as a teenager. 'Hemet' is an album full of musical accomplishment, emotional maturity and subtle craft. It is the long awaited arrival of a truly immense talent
