Recent months have been incredible for Ciaran Lavery, culminating in beating off intense competition in HOT PRESS's "Big Break" competition to be the cover star for May 27th 2015! He has also... Racked up an incredible 15 million plays on Spotify of his debut album and EP. Performed at Folk Alliance in Kansas City and Americana Festival in Nashville. Won much critical acclaim for the release of the Sea Legs mini album , a collaboration with Derry electronic artist Ryan Vail Plays Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Camp Bestival etc... in a summer of festivals across the UK, Europe and Ireland. Supported The Staves, Villagers and Stu Larsen and a run of dates in England with Emily Barker. Artist in Residence at the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast last month. Played The Great Escape in Brighton where Irish blogger Nialler9 named him amongst the top 10 new artists. Ciaran Lavery found his musical voice through the simplest of means “…listening to old 80s singles on my sister’s record player.” Cutting his young teeth in various (often noisier) incarnations over the last decade – that voice is now as soothing as it is timeless. Ciaran crafts heart-on-sleeve acoustic pop in the vein of ‘29’-era Ryan Adams; full of passion and meaning, “I come from a tiny village; you could literally drive through Aghagallon in thirty seconds, but it’s jam packed full of characters and real, genuine people. It’s the type of place where if you’re being an idiot someone will tell you. That’s just how the environment was. I guess that sort of honesty comes out in my music.” The Hard Ground (Acoustic) Featuring Pat Carey & Marlene Enright. The band’s signature sound relies heavily on the interplay between the two contrasting main vocals which provide the foundation for what is musically brooding and brash, sassy and sentimental, where the gravel meets the glass. Alternating between contrasting styles, sometimes raw, sometimes layered, the five piece always pack an emotional punch.
